A routing number is a nine-digit numeric code printed on the bottom of checks that is used to facilitate the electronic routing of funds (ACH transfer) from one bank account to another. It’s also referred to as RTN, routing transit number, ABA or bank routing number.
The routing number for checking, savings and money market accounts identifies the financial institution where the account was opened and is located on the lower left corner of your checks. It is nine digits long. In the sample check, the Routing number is 000067894. The Routing number is followed by your account number.
